November 17, 2016—Perry, GA— U.S. News & World Report released on Wednesday its ranking of the best nursing homes in the nation, and three middle Georgia long term care homes were on that list. Church Home Rehabilitation and Healthcare between Perry and Fort Valley, Carlyle Place in Macon, and The Oaks in Marshallville were among 26 homes in Georgia recognized. There are 358 nursing homes certified by Georgia’s Department of Community Health.
U.S. News evaluated more than 15,000 nursing homes nationwide to come up with slightly more than 2,000 homes included in their list of Best Nursing Homes. Millions of Americans will spend at least some time in a nursing home this year, noted Brian Kelly, editor and chief content officer of U.S. News.
“Finding a nursing home that meets an individual’s specific needs can be challenging for families,” Kelly said in a release. “Our nursing home ratings are designed to help potential residents and their loved ones navigate this difficult process.” More information from U.S. News & World Report can be found online at http://www.usnews.com/senior-care.
The methodology for the U.S. News “Best Nursing Home” designation relies on data from Nursing Home Compare at the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Factors included overall performance ratings, as well as ratings for key services over the 12 months ending in October 2016. Consumers may research nursing homes on federal government’ CMS site https://www.medicare.gov/nursinghomecompare/search.html?
Kathy Gibbs, Administrator of Church Home/LifeSpring stated, “Our dedicated staff strives each and every day to treat our residents with the care and respect we would want for ourselves and our loved ones.” She added, “For as long as we are open, this facility will never waver in its commitment to its residents care and dignity. We are humbled to be honored on this list of outstanding long term care homes across the nation.”
About Church Home/LifeSpring
Church Home/LifeSpring offers nursing and rehabilitation services for seniors throughout middle Georgia. Tracing its history to 1939 when the members of Christ Sanctified Holy Church opened the original Church Home for the Aged, the facility has undergone numerous expansions and renovations. In 2014, the LifeSpring rehabilitation center opened to provide state-of-the-art services for those needing short-term support following surgery or a medical event. A 10 bed expansion to LifeSpring will open in December, allowing the facility to expand its care to more area seniors. Based on recent State surveys, Church Home/LifeSpring is the only facility in Houston County to achieve the highest level rating of “5 Stars” for “Quality Measures” and “Overall Rating.”
